Description

A permanent role to enhance the competitiveness and profitability of a product category by conducting descriptive data analysis, generating insights, and supporting the execution of a customer-centric category strategy. The analyst will gather, consolidate, and analyse complex datasets to advise stakeholders on business challenges, sales opportunities, pricing, promotions, and long-term trading strategies within a pharmaceutical/retail environment.

Responsibilities

Provide buyers with robust data to inform pricing and promotional performance
Assess the performance of new projects (product range changes, pricing initiatives, promotions, displays)
Deliver predefined reports for supplier performance reviews, pricing reviews, promotional planning, and sales analysis
Prepare data for weekly management meetings, focusing on critical issues and departmental KPIs
Collect and interpret initiatives from annual category reviews and brief buyers before supplier meetings
Generate insights, predictions, and actionable recommendations from complex datasets
Produce tactical and strategic reports to support business activities
Contribute to the development and execution of long-term trading strategies

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (BCom, BSc) or a certification in Data Analytics
Experience: 2 years as a Data Analyst or in a similar role in a business environment
Core Skills & Knowledge:
Strong analytical, conceptual thinking, and problem-solving skills
Ability to communicate insights clearly and inform business decisions
Financial and business acumen with an understanding of data use in retail trading
Proficiency in English (verbal and written)
Desirable Skills (Advantageous):
Knowledge of pharmaceutical products and front shop operations
Familiarity with SAP Buying/Retail Systems, Tableau, or MS Power BI
Proficiency in Power Query for Excel, VBA, SQL, R, or Python
